One of my favourite types of portrait sessions is photographing people who want to celebrate their tattoos. These sessions aren't about simply documenting the artwork—they're about capturing the person behind it.
Over the years I've worked with clients from all walks of life. Some have spent decades building intricate full sleeves and back pieces, while others have a single small tattoo that carries enormous personal significance. Every session is completely unique because every story is unique.
The beauty of tattoo portrait photography is creating images that honour both the artistry and the individual. We carefully consider lighting, posing, wardrobe, and location to showcase the tattoos while still keeping the focus on the person wearing them. Sometimes that means dramatic studio lighting that highlights every detail. Other times it means natural outdoor light that creates a softer, more intimate feel.
I've photographed musicians, dancers, fitness enthusiasts, creatives, professionals, and everyday people who simply wanted to celebrate this part of their identity.
